This year, the BRICS Theatre Festival 2025 will be attended by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (China), the Waterfront Theatre School (South Africa), the Patwaj Theatre Company (Iran), the Roopak Nrityalaya Dance School (India), the Indonesian Institute of Arts, and the Youth Arts Theatre (United Arab Emirates). Representatives from the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema and the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts will also visit Moscow. Russia will be represented by the Institute of Theatre Arts named after People's Artist of the USSR Iosif Kobzon.
During the 9 days, in the "open air" mode, the audience will be able to see performances, master classes, and concert programs specially prepared by the Festival participants. There are also planned thematic tours of the capital's theaters and museums, as well as joint conferences, The events are dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Traditionally, the festival program will be concluded with a joint performance by students from all the participating countries. This time, as part of the Year of Russian-Chinese Friendship, the play "The Orphan Zhao" by a 13th-century Chinese author will be performed. This play will provide an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of China. The performance, which will feature all the languages of the participating countries, is designed to be accessible to all audiences. After all, the language of art does not require translation.
